Working Groups

The operational model of the Committee for Perth allows for the delivery of our vision via three working groups that focus on the key areas of Reforming, Reshaping and Revitalising.  The responsibility of each working group is clearly identified:

Reforming

Chaired by Rob Cole – responsible for developing initiatives to progress the deregulation of government policies that negatively impact on our vision such as the deregulation of retail trading hours.

Their current focus is on:

  • Local government reform
  • Full deregulation of retail trading hours
  • Planning Approvals

Reshaping

Chaired by William Hames - responsible for developing initiatives, advocacy and monitoring programs in order to champion our vision related to sustainability, city making projects, public spaces and transportation.

They are currently considering:

  • Waterfront development
  • Northbridge Link
  • Transportation
  • Placmaking
  • Sustainability
  • Perth Cultural Centre
  • Planning Approvals Reform

Revitalising

Chaired by Margaret Seares, AO - responsible for catalysing activity and developing initiatives in order to deliver on our vision by progressing the recommendations contained in the Cultural Compact that will utilise arts and culture to increase the vibrancy of Perth.

Current initiatives include:

  • Cultural Compact
  • Celebrating Indigenous Culture
  • Philanthropy
  • Youth Arts Hub

All members are encouraged to contribute to the effectiveness of the Committee for Perth by allocating resources from their organisation or networks to the most relevant working group.
